Young Apprenticeship Programme

Above Bar College offers a range of opportunities for year 10 pupils.

To be eligible for this programme pupils need to have predicted A – C grades in Maths and English.

The Young Apprenticeship is a 2 year programme for pupils to undertake a Level 2 Hairdressing qualification combined with 50 days work in a commercial salon, which will be arranged by the college.

This course will offer a structured progression pathway into a fast track Apprenticeship programme post 16, as the knowledge and skills achieved through the Young Apprenticeship programme will act as a foundation for the Level 2 (NVQ) Diploma in Hairdressing.

Work Experience

Above Bar College are able to offer a structured two week work experience programme for those pupils in year 10.

Pupils will attend the college Monday – Thursday to work with our students and receive structured training in a variety of hairdressing techniques. On the Friday pupils will work in an approved commercial salon which will be organised through the college.
